EPA has updated acknowledgement of the 3M™ LeadCheck™ to use on drywall and plaster. Currently-recognized EPA test kits, with details which include substrates upon which they may be utilized, are available at http://www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/testkit.htm. Please be aware that all EPA-recognized test kits should be used following the manufacturers’ instructions for the appropriate substrate.
NOTE: FOR USE ON PLASTER AND DRYWALL, users of 3M™ LeadCheck™ should get updated guidelines for using the EPA test kit on plaster and drywall. The modified process of testing plaster and drywall is a little bit different than the process used in the past.
3M™ LeadCheck™ test kits delivered to stores after April 1, 2012, will include the updated guidelines. Kits bought just before April 1, 2012, or which contain the older guidelines can still be utilized but the users are required to follow the current instructions when screening plaster and drywall.
